Taxis Most taxis are licensed to carry up to four people but larger ones can take six. Prices are cheap compared with other European countries. You can order a cab from your hotel, go to a taxi rank or simply hail one in the street. Prices are posted up at the taxi rank but it is best confirm the price with the driver first. Abundant and affordable, taxis are a great way to get around, particularly if there are three or four of you. There's a taxi rank at the bottom of Avenida Per Mas y Reus, Alcudia with a huge board displaying the prices to locations across the island so you know how much it's going to cost before you get going.
Car Hire There are lots of rental car offices throughout the resort and prices are pretty uniform. You can expect to pay per day, the rate drops if you rent a car for a week or more. Mileage is normally unlimited and you'll need your passport, a credit card and, of course, your driving licence. Main roads are well surfaced and Majorca has few stretches of highway making it quick and easy to travel from Palma to the east coast. Secondary roads on the island are narrow but good but the mountainous north coast has hairpin bends to watch out for. Islanders drive on the right and front and rear seatbelts are compulsory.
