Majorca Museums
Majorca is much more than just a thriving clubbers' paradise - it's a well-established island with a fascinating history, with plenty of museums and galleries all round the island to show for it.
Joan Miro Foundation C/Joan de Saridakis 29, Arenal. Open May-Sept 10am-7pm. Sept-May 10am-6pm. Closed Mondays. Though a native of Barcelona Joan Miro spent many years of his life in Majorca. Here they have a large collection of his paintings and lithographs.
Museum of Mallorca C/ Portella 5, Arenal. Open Oct-Mar 10am-1pm and 4pm-6pm. April-Sept 10am-2pm and 5pm-7pm. Sundays 10am-2pm. Closed Mondays and holidays. A large collection of Gothic painting and significant archaeological artefacts are on permanent display at the island's main museum.
Museo Municipal De Pollenca Convento Santo Domingo, Pollenca. Open Oct-June 11am-1pm daily. Jul-Sept 10am-1pm and 5.30pm-8.30pm. Sundays 10-1pm. Closed Mondays. An eclectic collection of gothic alter pieces, contemporary painting and artefacts from the local digs at Roman sites.
Museo Marti Vincenc c/ del Calvari 10, Pollenca. Open 10am-1pm and 3.30-7pm. Sundays 10am-1pm. Closed Mondays. A collection of the paintings, sculptures and textiles made by local artist Marti Vincenc and housed in the museum established by his wife on his death.
