Majorca Child Holidays
Majorca is a well-established holiday destination, and so there's a great number of child-friendly entertainments available.
The Peach Pit c/Tomalo, Alcudia. Open 7 days until 3am. Though there are lots of places that cater for kids, The Peach Pit does that little bit extra. They put on a kids show at 9 every night featuring Bob the Builder, Tinky Winky or Jake from The Tweenies. There is then a dancing competition for the young ones where they can win prizes for their ability or lack of it!
Super Golf Hidro Park Avenida Tucan, Alcudia. Open May to September. As Rolf Harris so rightly said, kids love the water, and there's plenty of it here plus enough slides and pools to keep the hardest to please young holiday maker occupied. If they get tired of that then there are three 18 hole mini-golf courses, costumed characters and enough food and drink places to feed an army.
Nature Walks S'Albufera Natural Park. The park organises small walking tours where an expert guide will introduce visitors to the species of wildlife native to the area. Prices vary depending on the tour. Details on 609 888 773.
Jumaica Tropical Park Carretera Porto Colom-Porto Cristo, 4.5km, Arenal Tel 971 83 33 55. Open summer 9am-6pm, winter 10am-4.30pm. A tropical park based around a banana plantation where you can see all kinds of wildlife from pot bellied pigs to parrots as well as an enormous collection of tropical trees, plants and flowers.
Aqua City Autovia Palma-Arenal. Exit 13. Tel 971 44 00 51. Open May-October 10am-5pm. A huge water park with pools, slides and chutes. Plenty of places to eat, drink and sunbathe.
Marineland Costa d'en Blanes, Calvia, near Cala D'or. Tel 971 67 51 25. Open April-Sept, 9.30-5.15pm/ July and August till 6.45pm. A huge water and wildlife show with dolphins, parrots and sea lions as well as a park where you can see sharks, penguins, a reptile house full of lizards, an aviary full of flamingos and an aquarium full of tropical fish.
Western Park Carretera de Cala Figuera, Magalluf. Tel 971 131 627. A fantastic combination of wild west and water park to keep all ages happy for a day There's a falconry show, a farm and restaurants to keep you busy.
Go Karting Cami Sa Porrassa, Magalluf. Tel 971 131 734. Open June to September from 10am till midnight. October to May 10am till 6pm. Spinning round the circuit at various speeds and with varying degrees of success.Prices vary depending on the speed of the kart.
Underwater Sightseeing The Nemo Submarine, C/Galio 2 Magalluf. Tel 971 130 244. From March to October, Tuesday to Saturday. Underwater sightseeing in a real submarine.
Pollenca Beach The beaches along the bay are perfect for kids. They're broad and sandy and slope very gently into the water so kids shouldn't get out of their depth.
Fantasy World c/Llevant 9. Puerto Pollenca. Tel 971 866 606. Open daily from 12am. This English run activity centre for kids just 100 yards from the beach is perfect if they're bored or you fancy a few hours to yourself. There's a two-storey play centre full of slides, ropes and balls for the kids while you have a drink at the bar or go for a walk alone. There is a babysitting option where parents can leave their children here supervised in the evening or during the day. Be aware that you will be charged more for this service. Children must be 4 years or more. It's best to pre book.
Baskin Robbins corner of c/ Llevant and the promenade. Well, it's not Spanish but 31 flavours of ice cream right next to the beach can be quite a bargaining chip during negotiations with unruly infants.
Cafeteria Mini-Golf Avenguda Belgica, Cala D'or. Open 9am-1.30/2am. A bar with a huge terrace under the trees, the real advantage of this place is that it has a full floodlit mini-golf course attached. The kids can play golf while you enjoy a beer or a cocktail on the terrace where you can keep your eye on them.
